Murat Üranüz is the holder of an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and graduated in business studies. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). From 2014 to 2018 he served as the deputy compliance monitor to Dr. Mark Livschitz for a German company with reporting duty to the FCPA Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington DC, USA, as part of a Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA). Murat Üranüz was responsible for all procedural and accounting audits carried out for the duration of the compliance monitorship.

Murat is one of the select few German-speaking compliance professionals in the German-speaking countries who has first-hand knowledge and experience of FCPA procedures. This comes from having been an integral part of two U.S. DOJ FCPA procedures. The first of these was from an employee perspective of an automobile company being investigated by the U.S. DOJ and the second, as deputy compliance monitor (external, engaged by the U.S. DOJ) of a construction company and industrial services provider.

Murat’s expertise in the areas of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) as well as audit and forensics has been gathered over the last 15 years through a variety of positions and tasks. A CFE since 2009, Murat has many years of experience in cross-border internal investigations into economic offences with corruption and fraud as the central focus. In the course of these internal investigations, he has worked for a large range of industries such as automobile, construction, industrial services, IT, food and defence.

As a compliance advisor, Murat has helped several companies to put in place and develop compliance management systems (CMS). Compliance education and trainings, ICS effectiveness testing, as well as third party due diligence reviewing are very much a part of his operational focus and strengths. As is auditing of operational processes.

His international engagements have taken him to a wide range of countries such as Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, UAE, USA and Vietnam. This has endowed him with a very wide professional exposure coupled with a deep understanding of local business practices. This inter-cultural competence is one that is undeniably essential when dealing with challenging and complex issues.
